As the cameras panned to young Jack Robinson, after his wasteful attempt on goal against Oldham, the audience were treated to an easily discernible four letter word.
There is no doubt that when Luis Suarez is upset, you get more than a flea in your ear but the response was unacceptable. This issue will divide Liverpool fans. There are those of us who think it shows temerity and passion. There are those of us who think it was foolish at best and downright disrespectful at worst. And there are those of us who didn't see it at all, as we tore our hair out after another promising position was wasted.
The flip side is the player procrastinating in no stranger to being selfish himself. Often choosing to shoot from ridiculous angles instead of laying off an easier ball. However, he is Luis Suarez. Some would say he has earned the right to be a little wasteful as his goals has been our buoy this season.
With the club already facing a difficult transition period and Rodgers under scrutiny already, strands of discord in the dressing room is not a story we want to see creeping into the headlines. A sheepish look away or gesture of apology is usually the norm in these cases. It should have been the same yesterday.
We should cut Robinson some slack though as the defence had an absolute shocker yesterday. The centre-backs were poor, both of them, and this gives the full-backs no hope at all. The whole defence were bruised and battered and the afternoon's frustration just bubbled over in that one incident.
There has always been a pecking order at Liverpool, the reserves and younger players have came in and learned from the more experienced players and have done so with respect. Something as innocuous as this can cost a young player an opportunity, it may even be the catalyst for a loan move in the summer window. I think this would be a real shame as Robinson clearly has bags of potential, but like most younger players he needs to learn that at a club like Liverpool everything will be scrutinised.
What do you think? A valid show of frustration? A foolish tirade? Justified? Misguided? Leave your comments below.
