The Editorial Team
Every page is filed under one pen name, used by the whole editorial desk. Behind it sit a writer, a second editor who checks the facts, and a fixed list of sources.

The editorial team behind Pick Our Team is a small desk of writers and editors who work on betting, racing, licensing and lottery pages. Every page carries the same byline, a pen name used by the whole desk rather than the name of one person.
Why a pen name
Gambling pages draw angry email, and occasionally worse, from people who lost a bet or an argument. A shared name keeps individual writers out of that, and it puts the responsibility where it belongs: on the desk as a whole. The pen name is not a made-up expert with invented credentials. It stands for a process, and that process is described below.
How a page is checked
- A writer drafts the page from the sources listed further down, recording where each fact came from.
- A second editor checks every licence holder, date, rule and sum against those sources. Worked odds examples are recalculated, not skimmed.
- Anything that cannot be confirmed is cut or labelled as unconfirmed. Values that change often, such as offers and codes, are pulled from a data store rather than typed into the text.
- The page is dated. When a source changes, the page is rechecked and the date moves on.
We do not open accounts, deposit or bet to write reviews, and the pages do not pretend otherwise. What we report about a product is what its operator's terms, help pages and app listings say.
The sources we work from
- The register of the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland, for betting licences issued since 1 July 2026.
- Revenue's published material on betting duty and the remote bookmaker's licence it used to issue.
- Dail answers and the revised text of the Gambling Regulation Act 2024, for what is in force and what is still to come.
- The Regulator of the National Lottery and the National Lottery's own rules, for games, draw days and prize claims.
- Foreign regulators' records, such as Malta's and Great Britain's, for casino brands.
- Operators' own terms, help pages and app store listings.
How those facts become a verdict is set out under how we rate operators; the legal background is in the licensing guide.
Independence and corrections
Writers do not see commercial terms when they rate a brand. The money side is explained in the affiliate disclosure. Mistakes are corrected when they are shown to us; send them through the contact page with the source if you have it.
The desk writes for adults: gambling in Ireland is 18+. Our pages also point readers to free support whenever money is involved, because a well-sourced review is no use to someone who should not be betting at all.
Readers' questions
- Is the author on your pages a real person?
- The byline is a pen name used by the whole editorial desk. Several people write and check the pages under it.
- Which sources count most when they disagree?
- Official records win: the GRAI register, Revenue, the Act and Dail answers. Operator terms come next. Where only third-party reviews exist, the page says so.
