Betting tips today are below: tips for the races today first, then football, GAA, rugby and golf as the fixture list allows. Each selection gives the market and the price we saw when it was written, so you can tell at a glance whether the bet is still the one we liked.
Pick Our Team does not sell tips and does not run a tipping line. What follows is free, written by the desk, and carries the same health warning as any opinion on a sporting event.
Tips for the races today
Racing is the core of the page. The feed carries the day's selections across Irish and British meetings, from a Wednesday at Thurles to an all-weather card at Kempton or Southwell, with each-way calls marked as such.
| Course | First race | Code | Going | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Punchestown | 13:05 | Flat | Fixture moved from Galway after the Tuesday Galway Flat meeting was cancelled for waterlogging; official going not found | |
| Dundalk | All-weather | Listed for Thursday 29 Oct on the HRI site and a Tipp FM report; first race time and going not confirmed | ||
| Bath | 13:12 | Flat | Heavy | Afternoon meeting, seven races, first race David Cole Memorial EBF Novice Stakes |
| Ffos Las | 13:30 | National Hunt | Heavy | Afternoon jump meeting, seven races; going as shown on the Racing Post card for the first race |
| Stratford | 13:20 | National Hunt | Soft, good to soft in places | Afternoon jump meeting, seven races |
| Southwell | 18:30 | All-weather | Standard (AW) | Twilight meeting; 18:30 is the time of the AWC Season 14 Has Begun Handicap (Div 2) card, not confirmed as the first race |
A racing tip from us names the horse, the race and the price at the time of writing. We do not tip at starting price after the off, and we do not chase. If you want the cards themselves, today's racecards list the meetings, and the racing desk covers the festivals from Leopardstown at Christmas to the Galway Races in high summer.
Betting tips today for football, GAA, rugby and golf
Field sports follow in a single feed. On a Saturday in winter that means the Premier League and the URC; on a summer Sunday, the championship and a golf leaderboard.
| Event | Start | Market | Selection | Price | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Everton v Newcastle United | 19:45 | Match result | Everton | 11/10 | |
| Fiorentina v Atalanta | 19:45 | Match result | Fiorentina | 13/10 | |
| VidantaWorld Mexico Open | Outright winner | Doug Ghim | 20/1 | ||
| VidantaWorld Mexico Open | Outright winner | Gordon Sargent | 65/1 |
- Everton v Newcastle United: Newcastle have conceded 14 in eight league games, and Everton are at home, though they have scored just eight league goals this season.
- Fiorentina v Atalanta: Fiorentina are unbeaten in their last six home meetings with Atalanta, who have won only one of their last six league games.
- VidantaWorld Mexico Open: Ghim is rated highly by the strokes-gained model, with a win edge of about 1 per cent at around 20/1.
- VidantaWorld Mexico Open: The model makes Sargent the biggest value on the card, with a win-probability edge of 2.7 points at this each-way price.
Opinions, not certainties. Prices move; 18+, bet only what you can afford to lose.
Each sport has its own page with the working behind the markets:
- Football tips and predictions: League of Ireland, Premier League title and relegation odds, Champions League outrights.
- GAA betting: three-way results, handicaps and total points with the football two-pointer.
- Rugby betting: handicaps, Six Nations bonus points, the URC and the Champions Cup.
- Golf betting: each-way place terms, dead heats, the majors and the Irish Open.
How a betting tip should be read
A tip is a statement that a price is bigger than the chance it describes. It is not a forecast that the selection will win. A horse at 5/1 that we think should be 3/1 is a tip even though it loses more often than it wins; a 1/2 favourite we think is fairly priced is not one, however likely it looks.
Three things to check before backing anything here:
- The price. If it has shortened since we wrote it, the value may have gone. A 5/1 shot backed at 3/1 is a different bet.
- The terms. Each-way place terms, BOG concessions and Rule 4 deductions change what a racing bet pays. The each-way guide linked at the foot of the page sets out the standard terms.
- The stake. We do not set stakes for you. Level stakes, small enough to lose without noticing, are the only staking plan we would put our name to.
A worked example for the arithmetic: EUR 10 at 9/4 returns EUR 32.50, which is EUR 22.50 profit plus the stake. The same EUR 10 at 2/1, if the price has shortened, returns EUR 30.
Keep your own record as well as reading ours. Note the price you took, the starting price and the result. After a few months that column tells you more about a tipster, and about your own betting, than any headline winner.
Free super tips, named tipsters and the rest
Free super tips, a named tipster's selections for today, the football super tips of the week: the shelf is crowded. Some of those tipsters are good judges; many publish no record at all. The test is the same for all of them, us included: a public list of every selection, the price taken, and the losers next to the winners.
Be wary of anything sold as a sure thing, a guaranteed winner or inside information from a yard or a dressing room. Nobody has those, and the people selling them are not giving them away for the price of a subscription.
What this page does not cover
Fantasy Premier League tips and FPL team advice are games of skill without a bookmaker in them, and we leave them to others. NFL predictions and other American sports are outside the desk's beat. If a sport is not listed above, we do not tip it.
Bookmakers licensed for betting in Ireland
Since 1 July 2026 an online bookmaker serving Irish customers needs a remote betting licence from the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland. The bookmakers below hold one. It covers betting only, which matters for brands that also run a casino. The form figures and verdicts in the card follow our published rating method.

Form reads licence, markets, payments, safer-play tools, terms; 1 is best. How we rate. 18+ only.
Ireland's betting duty is paid by the bookmaker, not by you; winnings are not taxed in the punter's hands.
Bet within limits
Every tip on this page is for adults: 18+ only. Tips lose, often several in a row, and no selection here is worth more than you set aside before the first race. Deposit limits, time-outs and Irish support services are listed on our safer gambling page.
Readers' questions
- When are today's betting tips published?
- The feed is updated through the day: racing selections for the day's meetings, field-sport tips as markets open. Each carries the price at the time it was written.
- Do you charge for tips?
- No. The tips are free and there is no paid tipping line or subscription.
- Why does the price in a tip differ from the bookmaker's price now?
- Prices move after publication. If a selection has shortened, the value we saw may no longer be there, so judge the bet at the price you can actually get.
- Do you give Fantasy Premier League tips?
- No. The desk covers betting on racing, football, GAA, rugby and golf only.
