William Hill Review: An Irish Licence, a Short Cashier and Racing at the Core

William Hill holds a GRAI betting licence through an Irish company and is a sound each-way choice for racing. The payment list is short, and the casino and bingo sit outside the licence.

William Hill: review

William Hill is a licensed bookmaker in Ireland: WH Ireland Limited, trading as William Hill, holds a GRAI remote betting licence that runs from 15 July 2026 to 14 July 2029. For an Irish punter that puts the sportsbook under a regulator in Dublin; what the licence leaves out, and how short the cashier is, decide whether it suits you.

The name on the shop fronts is familiar; the paperwork behind the website changed this summer, so this William Hill review starts there.

William Hill Ireland and the new licence

Until mid-2026 William Hill's Irish online business ran on a Revenue remote bookmaker's licence held by William Hill Malta PLC. The 2024 Act moved betting to the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland, and the Irish customer business is now licensed to WH Ireland Limited. The register entry on our file: GRAI remote betting licence GRAI-1096-RB-26-0001 (WH Ireland Limited), valid 2026-07-15 to 2029-07-14.

So when people search for William Hill IE, William Hill Irish or William Hill UK, the distinction that matters is the account, not the logo. An Irish customer deals with the Irish entity, under Irish rules: identity and age verification, no betting on credit, deposit limits on request and a regulator with fining powers. A UK account is a UK matter. Our licensing guide covers the register and what each licence type means.

The owner on our file is evoke plc. That link comes from shared nominee details on the Revenue register rather than a statement on an operator page, so take it as our reading, not William Hill's wording.

William Hill betting: racing and sports

Racing is the core of the book, as it is for most of the old shop names. The App Store listing advertises BOG on UK and Irish racing, the concession that settles a winning bet at the starting price when the SP is bigger than the price you took. Read the conditions in the app before relying on it for a given race.

Each-way betting is where punters most often misread a slip, so here is the arithmetic on an example, not a quote of William Hill's place terms. A EUR 5 each-way bet costs EUR 10. At 8/1 with places paid at one fifth of the odds, a winner returns EUR 45 on the win part and EUR 13 on the place part, EUR 58 in all. If the horse only places, you get EUR 13 back and lose the win stake. Our each-way guide goes through place terms in detail.

Beyond racing, William Hill online betting runs to football, GAA and rugby among others, and markets are the strong suit of its form line. In-play and cash out details for Irish accounts were not set out in the sources we checked, so look at the event page.

Payments: a short list, clearly set out

William Hill's help article for Republic of Ireland customers names four routes:

Method Deposit Withdrawal
Debit card Yes Yes
Pay By Bank Yes Yes
Apple Pay Yes Not stated
Bank transfer No Yes

Minimum deposits per that article: EUR 5 (debit card), EUR 10 (Pay By Bank). Withdrawal times: Visa Direct about 4 hours; other debit cards 1-3 working days; Pay By Bank immediate to 1 working day. The same help pages note that credit cards stopped being accepted from Irish customers in February 2022, years before the 2024 Act banned credit betting outright, and that bank transfer deposits were withdrawn in March 2022.

That is a thin list beside bet365 or Paddy Power. We could not confirm PayPal for Irish accounts, nor Skrill or Neteller, which is why payments are a weak spot in its form line. If you rely on an e-wallet, this is the place to stop and check.

Login and the mobile site

A William Hill login problem is usually one of three things: a password reset, a verification document still pending, or an account restricted under the operator's terms. The help centre is the route for all three. If the site will not open at all from Ireland, use the Irish site or the official app rather than any unofficial address passed around online; a copy site is how accounts get emptied.

The mobile site and the app share the same account. The sportsbook app is listed on the Irish App Store as William Hill Sports Betting and on Google Play; store links on file: . For a comparison with other licensed firms, see our betting apps page.

Sign up offer and promo code

Searches for a William Hill promo code, a discount code or a William Hill sign up offer are steady. We hold no confirmed welcome offer for Irish customers as of 29 October 2026: . A code, if one is published, shows here: . Codes lifted from UK pages often do not apply to Irish accounts. Our promo codes guide explains what to check in any offer's terms.

William Hill Vegas, casino and bingo

William Hill Vegas, the casino and William Hill bingo are gaming products, and the Irish licence does not reach them. No gaming licence of any kind has yet been issued in Ireland; the GRAI expects to begin in early 2027. Which licence covers these products for Irish players, and which of them are offered to Irish accounts at all, we could not confirm. Treat them as a separate decision from the sportsbook, made without an Irish regulator to complain to.

Lotto results and the three weekly draws

A large share of searches pair William Hill with Irish Lotto results, often with "3 draws" in the query. The three draws are the National Lottery's own: since September 2026 Lotto is played on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, picking 6 numbers from 1 to 45. We could not confirm whether William Hill takes bets on Lotto draws from Irish customers. Official results come from the National Lottery, and our Lotto page carries the latest:

Our verdict on William Hill

Each-way, in our terms: a licensed, well-known bookmaker with a strong racing book and a straightforward Irish help section, held back by a short list of payment methods and terms that need reading. A sensible second account for a racing punter; for e-wallet users, look elsewhere first.

Only adults may bet, and no bookmaker should cost more than you can spare. Limits, time-outs and help contacts are listed on our responsible gambling page. 18+.
