Best Odds Guaranteed: the Irish Bookies That Offer BOG
BOG pays the starting price when it beats the price you took, and costs nothing when it does not. Most big licensed bookies offer it on UK and Irish racing; the small print on stakes and timing is not uniform.

Best odds guaranteed means that if you take a fixed price on a horse and the starting price turns out bigger, a winning bet is paid at the bigger SP. Ten GRAI-licensed bookmakers in our ranking offer some form of it on UK and Irish racing. It is not a uniform product: the conditions differ, and those differences are what this page is about.

Form reads licence, markets, payments, safer-play tools, terms; 1 is best. How we rate. 18+ only.
The order follows each firm's overall form line, not the generosity of BOG alone. A bookie with a fine concession and poor payout terms is still a poor bookie.
How BOG is settled: worked examples
The starting price is the on-course fixed-odds price at the off. BOG compares it with your taken price after the race and pays whichever is bigger.
| Bet | Price taken | SP | Paid at | Return |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EUR 10 win, horse wins | 5/1 | 7/1 | 7/1 | EUR 80 |
| EUR 10 win, horse wins | 5/1 | 3/1 | 5/1 | EUR 60 |
| EUR 10 win, horse loses | 5/1 | 7/1 | - | EUR 0 |
Without BOG the first bet returns EUR 60; with it, EUR 80. The concession costs nothing when the price shortens, and nothing when the horse loses.
BOG on each-way bets
Where an operator's terms extend BOG to the place part, the fraction is applied to the bigger price. Take EUR 10 each-way (EUR 20 total) at 6/1 in a race paying 1/5 the odds for three places, with an SP of 8/1, and the horse finishes second. At the taken price the place part returns 10 + 12 = EUR 22. At the SP it returns 10 + 16 = EUR 26. Our each-way guide covers the place terms in full.
What each bookie says about BOG
- bet365: BOG on UK and Irish racing for eligible customers, according to its promotion terms.
- Paddy Power: BOG on UK and Irish racing as an opt-in, and since 11 August 2026 only on stakes at or above a minimum set out in its help centre.
- Betfair: the Irish app listing carries a best-price promise on all UK and Irish racing.
- BoyleSports: BOG on UK and Irish racing, per its support pages.
- LiveScore Bet and BetVictor: both app store listings state BOG on eligible UK and Irish races.
- Coral: BOG on qualifying UK and Irish racing, per its app listing.
- Bar One Racing: offers BOG on UK and Irish racing, a feature carried in its race sponsorship titles; its own terms page could not be read.
- William Hill and Ladbrokes: both app store listings state BOG on UK and Irish racing; check the Irish terms for the current scope.
The desk did not find confirmation of BOG for Betway, Unibet, Sky Bet or Bet Master in their Irish product, so they are left out of this table. That is not proof they lack it, only that we could not verify it.
BOG times and the night before
Searches for "bookies BOG times" and "BOG the night before" reflect a real difference between firms. Some apply BOG from the moment their markets open, including prices taken the evening before racing; others start it at a set time on the morning of the race, and bets struck earlier are settled at the taken price only. Ante-post bets, struck days or weeks out, are normally outside BOG altogether. Each operator states its window in its terms. The safe habit is to check before betting early, not after the result.
Limits and exclusions to read
- Minimum or maximum stakes. Paddy Power applies BOG only from a minimum stake, and other firms may set a floor or a ceiling of their own; a stake outside the band is normally settled at the taken price.
- Payout caps. The extra paid by BOG may be capped per bet or per day.
- Which races. UK and Irish racing is standard; overseas meetings and greyhounds often are not covered.
- Account restrictions. Bookies can remove BOG from individual accounts. If yours vanishes, the terms usually allow it.
- Opt-in. Some firms need you to opt in once.
Best odds for Cheltenham and the Grand National
BOG matters most on big-field races where prices drift on the day. At the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National, bookies also compete on extra places, paying a fourth or fifth place where standard terms pay fewer. Combined with BOG, extra places can be worth more than a welcome offer. Both concessions are set race by race; check the slip.
BOG, odds comparison and the rest of sport
BOG is a racing concession. Golf, the World Cup and other sports have no starting price, so "best odds" there means comparing prices across books, which an odds comparison site or a few open tabs will do. Some golf books offer extra each-way places on majors, the nearest thing to a racing concession. Searches for BOG at 888, QuinnBet or Parimatch fall outside this table: 888 and QuinnBet are on the GRAI register but not yet rated by the desk, and Parimatch does not appear on it.
BOG adds value; it does not make losing bets win. Betting is 18+ only, and our safer gambling page explains how to set limits with any of the firms above.
Readers' questions
- What does best odds guaranteed mean?
- If you take a fixed price and the starting price is bigger, a winning bet is paid at the SP. If the SP is shorter, you keep the price you took.
- Does BOG apply to each-way bets?
- Often, but it depends on the operator. Where it applies, the place part is also settled at the bigger price, at the race place fraction.
- Does Paddy Power still offer BOG?
- Yes on UK and Irish racing, as an opt-in. Since 11 August 2026 it applies only to stakes at or above a minimum set in its help centre.
- When does BOG start each day?
- It varies by bookie. Some cover prices taken when markets open, others only from a set time on race day. Check the terms before betting early.
