Data notice
Privacy Notice
We collect very little: the emails you send us and the server logs every website keeps. No advertising trackers, no analytics scripts, and your rights under the GDPR set out plainly.
By Conor FurlongChecked

This privacy notice explains what personal data Pick Our Team handles and what you can do about it. In short: very little, and you have the full set of rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible
The publisher of Pick Our Team is the controller of the data described here. Requests about your data go to the editors' address on the contact page; mark the email "data request" so it is not mistaken for a correction.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Emails you send us, with your address and anything you include | To answer you and to fix pages you report | Legitimate interest in replying; consent where you volunteer more |
| Server logs: IP address, browser type, page requested, time | Security, spotting abuse, keeping the site running | Legitimate interest in a secure site |
| Clicks on a link to an operator | The click passes through our redirect so the operator can credit the referral | Legitimate interest in funding the guide |
We do not ask you to register, we have no comment boxes and we run no newsletter. We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Cookies and tracking
Our pages set no advertising or analytics cookies and load no third-party tracking scripts. Fonts are served from our own server, so opening a page does not hand your address to a font provider. If that ever changes, this notice will change first, and any non-essential cookie will wait for your consent.
When you follow a link to an operator
A link marked as going to a bookmaker or casino takes you through an address on our site and then to the operator. From that point the operator's own privacy notice applies, and its affiliate system may record that you arrived from us. Operators report referrals to affiliates in figures that do not give us your name, email or account details, and we do not ask for them.
How long we keep it
Emails are kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterwards in case it comes back, then deleted. Server logs are kept for a short period for security and then removed. Nothing is kept for marketing.
Your rights
- See the personal data we hold about you.
- Have it corrected if it is wrong.
- Have it erased, or its use restricted.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Receive data you gave us in a portable format.
Write to us and we will answer within the one month the GDPR allows. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Irish supervisory authority, the Data Protection Commission (An Coimisiun um Chosaint Sonrai), 6 Pembroke Row, Dublin 2, D02 X963. It also takes complaints through an online form on its own website.
Under-18s
The guide is written for adults, as gambling in Ireland is limited to those aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger; a parent who believes we have may ask us to delete it. Support for anyone worried about their own betting, or a family member's, is on the responsible gambling page.
Readers' questions
- Do you use Google Analytics or advertising cookies?
- No. Our pages load no analytics or advertising scripts as of the date on this notice.
- Does a bookmaker learn who I am when I click your link?
- The operator sees that the visit came from us. It learns who you are only if you open an account with it, under its own privacy notice.
- Where do I complain about how my data was handled?
- Write to us first. You can also go straight to the Data Protection Commission in Dublin, the Irish regulator for the GDPR.
