Reviews

Our casino reviews and bookmaker reviews cover 226 brands that Irish punters look up, and every one of them starts from the same question: who licenses this operator, and does any of that licence apply in Ireland? The answer files each brand before a welcome offer, a game count or an app rating gets a look in.

That order is deliberate. Since 1 July 2026 an online bookmaker serving Ireland needs a remote betting licence from the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI). Casino, slots and bingo have no Irish licence at all yet, so a casino review here can only ever describe a foreign regulator, and it says which one.

How our casino reviews sort 226 brands

The file as it stands on 29 October 2026, by status and by what each review is allowed to do:

Status Brands What it means What the review does
GRAI betting licence 17 On the GRAI register for remote betting or as an exchange Full review; link to the operator allowed; casino side described under its own foreign licence
Foreign licence 35 Takes Irish customers under a Malta, Great Britain or Gibraltar licence, or sits with a group whose Irish licence covers betting only; not an Irish gaming licence Review names the regulator; verdict of watch or each-way
Offshore 116 Curacao, Anjouan or no licence we could find, yet open to Ireland Swerve; no link, no offer
Unclear 28 Licence or Irish availability could not be established Held at watch or swerve until the facts are in
Not for Ireland, closed, not found 30 Refuses Irish accounts, has shut, or could not be traced Short note, kept out of search results

More than half the file is offshore. That is not a choice of ours; it is what turns up when you list the brands people actually search for in Ireland. The licensing guide sets out the Act, the register and the dates behind each column.

Bookmakers with a GRAI licence, and what it covers

Seventeen brands in the file sit on the GRAI register, checked against the register download of 29 October 2026. Three carry our nap: bet365, whose licence is held by Hillside (Europe) ENC, and Paddy Power and Betfair, which share a single remote betting licence held by PPB Counterparty Services Limited. Betfair's exchange runs on a separate intermediary licence in the name of Betfair International plc.

Form reads licence, markets, payments, safer-play tools, terms; 1 is best. How we rate. 18+ only.

A GRAI licence is a betting licence and nothing more. The casino tab inside a licensed bookmaker's app answers to Malta, Gibraltar or Great Britain, and each review says so. The Ladbrokes Bingo review is the clearest case: LC International Limited holds a GRAI remote betting licence for Ladbrokes, but bingo is gaming, so the bingo brand is filed as foreign, not Irish.

Top rated online casino: what a rating can mean before 2027

Any page promising the top rated online casino in Ireland is ranking something Ireland does not yet regulate. The Minister for Justice told the Dail on 13 October 2026 that GRAI gaming licences are expected to start in early 2027. Until then, our best rated online casino picks are ranked on the strength of the foreign regulator, the company behind the brand and how plainly the terms read.

Two of those show how tangled the paperwork gets. QuinnCasino appears as a trading name on the GRAI remote betting licence of QuinnBet (Gibraltar) Limited, which is why QuinnBet reviews and Quinn casino reviews keep landing on the same company; the activity on that entry is still remote betting, not gaming. Karamba's terms cite Revenue betting licence 1014834, which Revenue's legacy list puts in the name of Aspire Global International Ltd; Revenue no longer issues that licence, while the casino runs under Maltese and British licences according to the operator. Neither is an Irish casino licence, because none exists. The full shortlist, with payments and withdrawal notes, is on the casino sites page.

Safe, trusted, legit: words we use sparingly

People type safe casino online, trusted online casino and legit online casino into a search bar for the same reason: they want someone to answer for the money. In practice that means three checks. A regulator that keeps a public register with the company named on it. A licence number in the footer that matches that register. A complaints route that ends somewhere other than the operator's own inbox.

Offshore brands fail where it counts for an Irish punter: no Irish regulator stands behind them and no complaint ends in Ireland. Betfury holds a Curacao Gaming Authority certificate in the name of Universe B Games B.V.; Tsars Casino is listed with an Anjouan licence by third-party reviews; Rabona and Goldenbet are described as Curacao-licensed only by third-party reviews; Boomerang Casino names no regulator or company in its footer at all. Each gets a swerve, and none gets a link. A licence that is legitimate in Willemstad gives an Irish punter no Irish regulator, no GRAI complaint and no realistic court route.

Since February 2026 the Act also lets the High Court order blocks on unlicensed operators' websites, advertising and payments. A site that stops loading may have pulled out of Ireland or been blocked. Neither is a puzzle to work round; ask the operator in writing about any balance and leave it there.

Brands that will not take an Irish account

Sixteen brands in the file refuse Irish customers. Rizk is one: it lists Maltese and British licences, and third-party listings put Ireland among its restricted countries. Those reviews are kept short and out of search results, because a review of a door that will not open helps no one.

How each review is put together

  • Licence first. The GRAI register for betting, the Malta, British and Gibraltar regulators for gaming, and the legacy Revenue list for context only.
  • Sources named. Facts come from the operator's terms, help pages and app store listings, and from the registers. We do not open accounts or place bets for a review, and no page claims otherwise.
  • Numbers kept honest. Offers, minimum deposits and payout times appear only where the operator publishes them; where a field is blank, it stays blank.
  • Form line and verdict. Five figures for licence, markets, payments, safer-gambling tools and terms, then nap, each-way, watch or swerve, all explained on how we rate.
  • Shared owners flagged. One Maltese licence, MGA/B2C/370/2017, turns up on Casilando, Playzee, Casimba and Firevegas. The sister sites page maps those families so a ban or a complaint at one brand is not a surprise at the next.

Names searched for that have no file yet

Some brands that Irish punters look up, Betsafe, Bitcasino and BitStarz among them, have no review here yet. That is not a verdict either way. We do not write about a brand until its licence and its position on Irish customers have been checked, and a guess dressed up as a review would be worse than nothing.

The full file, A to Z

Every brand review, with its status and verdict, sorted for quick lookup.

Every brand here is for adults only: 18+, with money set aside for the purpose. GRAI licensees must already let you set deposit limits; the national self-exclusion register is in the Act but not running yet, so use each operator's own tools and the help listed on our safer gambling page.

Readers' questions

Is any casino reviewed here licensed in Ireland?
No. The GRAI issues betting licences only so far; gaming licences for casino, slots and bingo are expected from early 2027. Every casino review names the foreign regulator the brand actually answers to.
Why does a bookmaker with a GRAI licence still get a foreign label for its bingo or casino brand?
Because the GRAI licence covers betting. A bingo or casino product from the same company runs under a Maltese, British or Gibraltar licence, and we file it by that licence.
Why do offshore brands get a review at all?
People search for them. A short, plain review saying there is no Irish licence and no Irish protection is more use than silence, and it carries no link or offer.
How often are statuses checked?
Against each new download of the GRAI register and whenever an operator changes its terms. The date on each review shows the last check.
