BresBet: review

BresBet, the Sheffield bookmaker, is closed: the UK Gambling Commission suspended its licence on 28 August 2026 and the licence was surrendered on 4 September, after which the company ceased trading. It never held an Irish licence, so any search for a BresBet sign-up offer or welcome offer now ends here.

What happened to BresBet

BresBet Ltd held UK Gambling Commission licence 065252-R-340096-002. The Commission suspended it over suspected failings on social responsibility and anti-money laundering, and the licence was handed back a week later. The company then ceased trading.

The website now returns an error page with no company or licence text. It was not on the Revenue register of remote bookmakers and is not on the GRAI register, so it was never licensed to take bets from Ireland. Our licensing explainer covers which firms are.

Sign-up, live chat and sister sites

Searches still ask about BresBet sign-up, live chat and sister sites. There is no account to open and no chat service to reach. We know of no sister brand that took over its customers. Anyone with money left in an account should look for notices from the company or from the UK Gambling Commission, the body that dealt with its licence.

For an Irish punter who preferred a smaller firm, the licensed bookmakers on our betting pages all hold a GRAI remote betting licence. Betting is 18+; if a closure has left you chasing losses elsewhere, our safer gambling page lists free help.
