Sky Bet Review: Licence, Football Markets and the Gaps

Flutter's football-first bookmaker holds a GRAI betting licence through SBG Sports and accepts Irish customers. Beyond that, BOG, offers and payments for Ireland are thinly documented.

Sky Bet: review

Sky Bet accepts customers in Ireland and holds a GRAI remote betting licence through SBG Sports Ltd, valid from 11 August 2026 to 10 August 2029. It is a football-led British bookmaker owned by Flutter Entertainment, properly licensed for betting, though far less of its Irish detail is on the record than for the bookmakers that grew up here. Sky Bet is for over-18s only.

Sky Bet in Ireland: who holds the licence

The GRAI register lists SBG Sports Ltd as a remote betting licensee trading as Sky Bet, licence GRAI-1069-RB-26-0001, from 11 August 2026. That is six weeks after the first remote licences took effect on 1 July. The entry as we hold it: GRAI remote betting licence GRAI-1069-RB-26-0001 (SBG Sports Ltd), valid 2026-08-11 to 2029-08-10.

Two Flutter companies appear around the brand. Revenue's legacy list of remote bookmakers, valid to 30 June 2026, carried both SBG Sports Ltd and Bonne Terre Limited, and the Irish App Store listing names Bonne Terre Ltd as the seller. The GRAI licence, though, belongs to SBG Sports Ltd. Trade reporting describes Flutter moving Sky Bet's operating structure to Malta; for a customer what matters is which company the Irish regulator holds to account, and that is SBG Sports.

Flutter also owns Paddy Power and Betfair, whose remote betting licence is held by PPB Counterparty Services Limited; Sky Bet's is a separate entry. Our licensing guide covers how the register reads.

The licence is for betting only. Ireland issues no gaming licences yet, a point that matters below.

Does Sky Bet take Irish customers?

Yes. The Irish App Store listing states that customers outside the UK or Ireland are prohibited from using the service, which puts the Republic on the right side of the line. The same listing cites UK Gambling Commission and Alderney licences, which govern British customers; an account opened from Ireland falls under the GRAI licence for betting. Searches for Sky Bet Ireland and Sky Bet online lead to the same international site: there is no separate Irish one.

Sky Bet football betting

Football is the brand's centre of gravity. The Sky Bet name has long been attached to the English Championship, which explains why "Championship Sky Bet" is a search in its own right. For an Irish punter that means a book shaped around English football first: Premier League, Championship and the lower leagues, with Irish sport further down the list.

A worked double, as an example: EUR 10 on two selections at 2/1 and 6/4. The first leg turns EUR 10 into EUR 30; the second multiplies that by 2.5, so a winning double returns EUR 75. Lose either leg and the whole stake goes. Our accumulator guide runs through trebles, Yankees and the rest.

Transfer odds and manager specials

Sky Bet transfer odds and manager odds attract a following. These are novelty markets on where a player moves or who takes over a club, priced from press reports. Two cautions. The bookmaker is guessing from the same newspapers you read, and a market with a handful of names can still carry a heavy margin. And settlement rules matter more than usual: what counts as an official announcement, what happens if a deal collapses, and when unsettled bets are voided. Read those rules before staking. At 5/4, as an example, a EUR 8 bet returns EUR 18 if the move happens on the terms stated.

Super 6

Sky Bet's Super 6, its free-to-play score game, is one of its best-known features. We could not confirm whether entrants in Ireland are eligible or on what terms, so check the game's own rules before assuming you can claim a prize from the Republic.

Sky Bet races and BOG

Sky Bet races markets cover UK and Irish meetings, and best odds guaranteed on Sky Bet is a frequent search. We could not confirm from the operator whether BOG applies to Irish customers or on what conditions, because its website refused our research fetches. Do not assume it; find the racing promotions page once logged in. Bookmakers that do publish BOG for Irish punters are compared on our BOG page, and the day's racecards are on our racing desk.

The Sky Bet app and mobile site

Sky Bet apps are listed on the Irish App Store, the source of the eligibility line above. The mobile site works through the browser with the same account. We publish no rating or size, since both change with every update; our betting apps page compares mobile products across the licensed firms.

Sign up offer and new customer deals

The Sky Bet sign up offer, welcome offer and new customer offer are searched as if they were three things; they are usually one. We could not read the Irish version from the operator on 29 October 2026. If a current offer is confirmed it appears here: . A blank means nothing was confirmed.

An offer advertised to British customers may not be open to Irish ones, and the reverse; the terms on the registration page are the ones that bind.

Casino: separate brands, no Irish cover

Sky Bet casino searches are modest, and with reason: Flutter runs casino and games under separate Sky-branded products, and we could not confirm which are offered in Ireland or under which licence. Either way, none holds an Irish licence for gaming, because the GRAI does not expect to issue gaming licences until early 2027. Our casino desk explains how we rate casinos while that remains the case.

Payments, live chat and limits

Apple Pay is the only payment method we could confirm for Sky Bet, from its App Store listing. Debit cards are the usual route with licensed bookmakers, but we have no Sky Bet source for Ireland, and credit is barred by law. Minimum deposit and withdrawal times are not confirmed; the form box shows them when the operator publishes them.

Sky Bet live chat is another frequent search. We could not confirm the support channels available to Irish customers, so we do not list them. Deposit limits must be available on every Irish-licensed account, as the Act now requires, and self-exclusion is set with each operator until the national exclusion register comes into force.

Verdict on Sky Bet

Each-way. The licence is right and the football book is the reason to open an account, particularly for English league and transfer markets. Its form line suffers on payments, tools and terms because so little of the Irish detail could be confirmed: BOG, the welcome offer, support and payments beyond Apple Pay all remain open questions. Use it as a football account alongside a racing-led Irish bookmaker, not instead of one.
