Betting apps

The best betting apps in Ireland come from bookmakers holding a GRAI remote betting licence, and on that test bet365, Paddy Power and Betfair lead the field. Every app on this page belongs to a licensed operator; the ranking weighs racing coverage, market depth, payment options and the tools that let you cap your own spending.

Form reads licence, markets, payments, safer-play tools, terms; 1 is best. How we rate. 18+ only.

Ratings reflect each operator's form line. Store ratings and download counts are not part of it: they measure popularity and the mood of the last hundred reviewers, not whether the cash-out works on a Saturday afternoon.

What the app listings tell us

App store pages are written by the operators and must state who publishes the app. That makes them a useful, if partial, source.

  • bet365. The App Store listing says the app is available in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Its promotion terms extend BOG to eligible customers on UK and Irish racing.
  • Betfair. The Irish sportsbook listing, published by Betfair LTD, includes horse and greyhound racing and the Exchange in one app; casino is a separate Betfair Casino app.
  • LiveScore Bet. The Irish listing, titled as a sports and casino app, covers UK and Irish racing and promises BOG on eligible UK and Irish races.
  • BetVictor. Published by BV Gaming Limited of Gibraltar, the listing covers sports, UK and Irish racing with BOG, slots and live casino, and names Irish support services.
  • Coral. Entain publishes the sportsbook app, with BOG on qualifying UK and Irish racing; Coral Casino is a separate download.
  • Sky Bet. The listing, from Bonne Terre Ltd, restricts use to customers in the UK or Ireland.
  • Betway. Published by Digital Outsource International Limited; the listing says debit card deposits only, and the casino has its own app.

BetGoodwin's own site links both iOS and Android apps. For the other licensed firms the desk could not confirm current app versions from official pages, so the table shows them as blank rather than guess.

Sports betting app or casino app

Several bookies split sport and casino into two downloads. There is a regulatory logic: the GRAI licence covers the sportsbook, while the casino runs under a foreign licence because Ireland issues no gaming licences until, on current plans, early 2027. One app or two makes no difference to your balance, but it is worth knowing which licence sits behind the screen you are tapping.

Football betting apps and racing apps

A soccer betting app needs fast in-play prices, a bet builder that explains void legs, and cash-out that does not freeze at the 89th minute. A racing app needs full Irish and British cards, each-way terms on the slip, BOG, and results that settle quickly. Few apps are equally good at both, so plenty of punters keep one of each. Bar One Racing, as the name says, is built around the horses, though it prices sport too. For GAA, check that county championship and league games are priced with handicaps and totals, not just a three-way match bet.

Betting app sign-up bonus and free bet apps

A welcome offer belongs to the account, not the device, so the terms that apply on the website normally apply in the app as well; check the offer page if an app-only deal is advertised. "Free betting apps" usually means one of two things: free-to-play prediction games run by bookmakers, or tip apps. Neither is a betting account. Apps that promise free spins with no deposit belong to casino marketing, and often to offshore sites with no Irish licence. Our free bets page explains how to value an offer once you have one.

Apps searched for that we do not list

Several app names turn up in Irish searches without making this page.

  • Betdaq. Now part of Matchbook and closed for new bets; the withdrawal deadline and the rest of the story are on our exchanges page.
  • NetBet and QuinnBet. Both appear on the GRAI register for remote betting, but the desk has not yet assessed their apps for this table.
  • 20Bet and SportyBet. Neither appears on the GRAI register as of 29 October 2026. An app without a GRAI licence has no Irish regulator behind it, Irish law gives you no protection with it, and we do not recommend it.

Bet tracking and bet calculator apps

A standalone bet calculator app is handy for multiples and each-way sums, though the arithmetic can be checked by hand. Our online bet calculator covers fractional odds, each-way terms and the common full-cover bets. Bet tracking apps that log your stakes and returns can be a sound habit; one that asks for your bookmaker password is not.

Install safely and keep control

Download only from the App Store, Google Play or a link on the operator's own site, and check the publisher name matches the licence holder or its group. Before the first bet, set a deposit limit; Irish law gives you the right to one. Accounts are 18+, and the app will ask for ID to prove it. If the phone has become the problem rather than the tool, see our support page.

Readers' questions

Which is the best betting app in Ireland?
On our form figures, bet365, Paddy Power and Betfair lead. All three hold GRAI remote betting licences and cover Irish and British racing in depth.
Can I deposit with a credit card in a betting app?
No. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 bans credit cards and other credit for gambling, and that section is in force. Debit cards are accepted.
Will a betting app ask for ID?
Yes. Licensed bookmakers must verify age and identity under 2026 regulations, so expect to confirm your details before the first bet or withdrawal.
Why does my bookie have a separate casino app?
Often because the casino runs under a different, foreign licence from the GRAI-licensed sportsbook. Ireland has no gaming licence yet.
