Casino Apps and Mobile Casinos for Irish Players
Casino play has largely moved to the phone, in an app or a mobile browser. The licence, the cashier and the limits are the same either way; what changes is how easy it is to keep playing.

18+ only. Gambling can become a problem. Set a limit before you start. Help and support

A casino app is the operator's own application from the App Store or Google Play; a mobile casino is the same site opened in your phone's browser. For an Irish player the two give the same games, the same cashier and the same licence, and that licence is foreign in every case, because the GRAI will not license online casinos until early 2027. The brands below are ranked on licence and terms, with app availability shown from operator data.
The choice between app and browser is mostly about convenience: an app can use Face ID and push notifications, a browser keeps one more icon off your home screen. Both are 18+ only, and both should have limits set before the first spin.

Phones make gambling frictionless, which is exactly why our safer gambling page recommends deposit limits and notification controls from the start.

An empty cell means we have no confirmed app listing for Ireland on file, not that the brand has no mobile site. Every brand here can be played in a mobile browser. App store listings are worth reading in full: the developer name should match the licensed company in the casino's footer, and a mismatch is a reason to walk away.
Why these brands make the mobile casino card
Lucky Pants Bingo, run by Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Ltd, lists Apple Pay, PayPal and Trustly among its methods, which is the right mix for a phone. 32Red Casino and Kwiff Casino come from companies that hold GRAI remote betting licences; those licences cover betting, not the casino, but they put the parent company under an Irish regulator. Karamba runs Irish pages for casino, live casino and jackpots. LeoVegas runs a dedicated Irish site under its Malta licence; our LeoVegas app page covers its mobile product.
App or mobile browser: the real differences
| Casino app | Mobile browser | |
|---|---|---|
| Install | From the App Store or Google Play, where the operator lists it | None |
| Login | Face ID or fingerprint, usually | Password, or saved by the browser |
| Notifications | Push messages, which you can switch off | None, unless you allow them |
| Games | Normally the same library | The same library |
| Updates | Through the store | Automatic on the site |
If an operator offers an Android app only as a file download from its own website, rather than through Google Play, think twice. Installing apps from outside the official stores means switching off a phone security setting, and we do not recommend it for any casino.
Paying from a phone
Apple Pay and Google Pay make deposits quick, which is both the selling point and the hazard. Lucky Pants Bingo and Butlers Bingo list Apple Pay; for others, the cashier shows what is available once you log in. E-wallets suit phones too. Our Apple Pay casinos page explains how Apple Pay deposits and withdrawals work, since withdrawals usually go to the underlying debit card or bank account. Pay-by-mobile billing, where deposits go on the phone bill, is offered by some operators abroad; we have not confirmed it at any brand on this page, and paying for gambling later rather than now is a habit worth avoiding.
Real money casino apps against free casino apps
Many of the most downloaded "casino apps" are social casinos: you buy coins, you cannot cash out, and the app is a game, not a gambling account. Some well-known names in app stores belong to that category or to markets outside Ireland. A real money casino app has a licence number, an operator company, identity checks and a cashier that pays out. If you want to try a slot without staking, our free slots page covers demo play; if you want real money play, look for the licence before the logo.
A word on MegaCasino, which comes up as "mega casino app" in Irish searches: it is a SkillOnNet brand under a Malta Gaming Authority licence, and our review covers what we could confirm. Its Malta licence is not an Irish one.
Five settings to change on day one
- Set a deposit limit in the account menu before the first deposit.
- Turn off push notifications from the app, or at least promotional ones.
- Turn on reality checks, the pop-up that shows how long you have been playing, if offered.
- Check that the app's developer name matches the licensed company in the casino's footer.
- Find the self-exclusion and time-out options now, so you know where they are if you need them.
The National Gambling Exclusion Register in the 2024 Act, which will let one request cover every licensee, was not yet running in October 2026. Until it opens, self-exclusion has to be done brand by brand, on each app.
Readers' questions
- Are casino apps legal in Ireland?
- Casino apps open to Irish players run under foreign licences, because GRAI gaming licences are expected only from early 2027. No casino app is licensed in Ireland yet, so the licence shown in the app is your protection.
- Is a casino app better than the mobile site?
- Not in substance. The games, cashier and licence are normally the same. An app adds biometric login and notifications; the browser avoids an install.
- Can I use Apple Pay at a mobile casino?
- At some. Lucky Pants Bingo and Butlers Bingo list Apple Pay. Withdrawals usually go to the linked debit card or bank account rather than back to Apple Pay.
- Should I install a casino app from outside the app store?
- We advise against it. It means lowering a phone security setting, and a genuine licensed operator should be able to distribute through official stores.
