Betfred Ireland: Paused Since 30 June 2026

Betfred is not a bookmaker Irish punters can use at the moment, and it holds no Irish licence. Trade press reported in June 2026 that Betfred paused its Irish operations from 30 June, the day the Revenue licensing regime ended, asked customers to withdraw their balances and named no date for a return.

Betfred in Ireland: the short history

The firm launched online in Ireland in autumn 2024, according to reports, and never had Irish betting shops. Its licence holder, Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited, still appears on the Revenue register of remote bookmakers published as at 30 June 2026. That list is now a legacy document. Online betting from Ireland has required a licence from the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland since 1 July 2026, and neither Petfre nor the Betfred name appears on the GRAI register we checked on 29 October 2026.

We could not read Betfred's own site to confirm the pause in its terms, and we found no report of a return. It holds UK Gambling Commission and Government of Gibraltar licences; neither is an Irish licence.

Customers were told to withdraw. If a balance remains, contact Betfred's customer service through its official site and keep a record of every request. Its form line and swerve verdict reflect that the brand is not serving Ireland, not a judgement on its British business.

Shops, the 49s and the UK site

Searches for Betfred shops, the 49s results checker, Super League or the UK site relate to the firm's business in Great Britain. None of it changes the position for an Irish account.
