Fishin Frenzy Slot Review: The Original Fishing Reels
Blueprint Gaming's five-reel fishing game is the template a dozen imitators copied: plain base game, fisherman collects fish in free spins. The spin-offs, from Megaways to Jackpot King, are separate games with separate maths.

The Fishin Frenzy slot is a five-reel, three-row, ten-line game from Blueprint Gaming, officially styled Fishin' Frenzy. Its whole appeal fits in one line: land three or more scatters, and in free spins a fisherman symbol collects the cash value shown on every fish in view.
It is old by slot standards and looks it. That has not stopped it becoming one of the most copied formats in the business, and a fixture in the lobbies of casinos and bingo sites that take Irish customers.
One name, several games
Searches for this title split several ways, and the versions are not interchangeable. Each has its own maths model, so a figure quoted for one tells you nothing about another.
- Fishin Frenzy, the original ten-line game.
- Fishin Frenzy Megaways, which swaps fixed lines for a reel set where the number of symbols per reel changes on every spin. Our Megaways slots page explains the mechanic.
- Fishin Frenzy Jackpot King, linked to Blueprint's progressive jackpot network. Part of each stake feeds the jackpot pool, which usually means a lower return in the base game.
- Fishin Frenzy Even Bigger Catch and other sequels, each reviewed on its own page, such as Even Bigger Catch.
Fishin Frenzy RTP and the info screen
Blueprint, like most studios, can supply a game at different return-to-player settings. Rather than repeat a number found on a forum, open the paytable or help screen at the casino you use and read the figure stated there. Jackpot versions will normally show the base RTP and the jackpot contribution separately, or a combined figure; read which.
Fishin Frenzy demo: what it is good for
Fishin Frenzy free play exists at many casinos and on the provider's own showcase, usually behind a login and an age check. It is a fair way to learn the paytable without spending. It is not practice in any useful sense, because no amount of demo play changes the odds on a real spin.
Free spins no deposit offers
Fishing slots are a favourite for sign-up spins. An offer of spins with no deposit needed is cheap for the casino for a reason: wagering on winnings, a maximum cash-out and a short expiry are standard. The free spins section sets out how to price one up. The Fishin Frenzy bonus buy, where a version offers it, is a different thing: you pay a fixed price for the feature, and the casino or its regulator decides whether the option exists at all.
Licence position for Irish players
Irish law has no online casino licence in force yet; the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland expects to start issuing gaming licences in early 2027. Casinos carrying Fishin Frenzy for Irish customers rely on Maltese, British or other foreign licences. See our licensing page for who handles complaints in the meantime.
Is the Fishin Frenzy slot worth a spin?
For anyone who likes the fishing format, the original is the cleanest version: few moving parts, nothing hidden. The Megaways and jackpot editions add noise and, in the jackpot case, cost. You must be 18+ to play. Fix a budget in euro before you start, not in spins, and if gambling has stopped being entertainment, our responsible gambling page has Irish contacts.
Readers' questions
- What is the difference between Fishin Frenzy and Fishin Frenzy Megaways?
- The original pays on ten fixed lines. The Megaways version changes the number of symbols on each reel every spin, which changes the number of ways to win and the maths model behind the game.
- Does Fishin Frenzy Jackpot King pay less?
- Part of every stake on a Jackpot King game funds the progressive prize, so the base game usually returns less. The info screen at your casino states the figures.
- Is Fishin Frenzy available in Ireland?
- Many casinos open to Irish adults carry it, under foreign licences such as Malta or Great Britain. No Irish online gaming licence has been issued yet.
