Gates of Olympus Slot Review: Tumbles, Multipliers, Demo

Pragmatic Play's Zeus slot pays symbols anywhere on the grid and drops multiplier orbs on top. The free spins round is where it earns its reputation, and where the buy feature costs most.

Gates of Olympus

The Gates of Olympus slot is a Pragmatic Play game on a six-by-five grid where eight or more matching symbols anywhere on screen pay, and Zeus adds multiplier orbs that boost the win. Paylines play no part. The free spins round, where the multipliers build up, is the reason people go looking for the demo.

How the Gates of Olympus slot pays

Thirty positions, no lines. Count the symbols of one kind anywhere on the grid; eight or more is a win, and more of them pays more. Winning symbols then vanish and new ones fall into the gaps, a mechanic the provider calls tumble. A tumble can produce a fresh win, which tumbles again, and the sequence ends only when nothing new connects.

Multiplier symbols can land on any spin. According to the game rules they carry values from 2x up to 500x. At the end of a tumble sequence, the values of all multipliers on screen are added together and applied to the total win of that sequence. A sequence with no win leaves the multipliers worthless.

The free spins round

Four or more Zeus scatter symbols award 15 free spins. Here the difference from the base game is that multipliers hitting during a winning sequence feed a running total that carries across every remaining spin. A round in which the running total climbs early is the one players remember; most rounds are less dramatic.

Ante bet and bonus buy on Gates of Olympus

The standard build offers two extras. The ante bet raises the stake by a set percentage in return for a better chance of triggering free spins; the paytable gives both figures. The buy feature sells the free spins round outright for the multiple of the stake shown on the button.

Work that through. At a 20c stake, a buy priced at 100x costs EUR 20 in one go, the same as 100 ordinary spins, and the round can return less than it cost. Whether either option appears depends on the casino and the market version it runs; if the button is missing, that copy of the game does not include it.

Demo, free play and that download question

The Gates of Olympus demo is the most searched version of the game, and it is useful: play credits let you watch tumbles and multipliers until the rules make sense. Credits cannot be withdrawn, and a heavy multiplier in free play predicts nothing.

There is no need to download Gates of Olympus. It runs in a browser and inside casino apps. Treat any standalone "download" offered by an unknown site with suspicion; casino apps belong in the official app stores or on the operator's own site.

RTP and where the numbers live

Pragmatic Play publishes its RTP settings and casinos choose the version they run, so the figure that counts is in the game's info screen at your casino. The same panel lists the maximum win and the stake range. We would rather send you there than quote a number that may not match.

Gates of Olympus in Ireland: who licenses the casino

Ireland has no online gaming licence in issue yet; the regulator, the GRAI, plans to start gaming licensing in early 2027. A casino carrying this slot for Irish players does so under a licence from Malta, Great Britain or another jurisdiction, and Irish rules on gaming do not yet reach it. Our casino list names the regulator behind each site, and the licensing explainer covers the transition.

Readers' questions

How many free spins does Gates of Olympus give?
Four or more Zeus scatters award 15 free spins, according to the game rules. Whether and how extra spins are added during the round is set out in the paytable.
Is the Gates of Olympus free play version the same game?
The rules and features are the same, but it runs on play credits that have no cash value. Results in free play tell you nothing about real-money sessions.
What is the difference with Gates of Olympus 1000?
The sequel keeps the grid, the tumble and the free spins trigger but raises the maximum win. See our separate review of Gates of Olympus 1000.
