Crazy Time and Live Game Shows: Wheels, Multipliers and What They Cost

Live game shows put a presenter, a big wheel and a burst of multipliers between you and the house edge. The lights are new. The arithmetic underneath is the same as ever.

18+ only. Gambling can become a problem. Set a limit before you start. Help and support

Game shows

Crazy Time is a live casino game show: a presenter spins a large money wheel in a studio, you bet on which segment it will stop at, and four bonus segments open extra rounds with multiplied prizes. It is made by Evolution, the live casino studio that also produces Monopoly Live and Lightning Roulette, and like every casino game it returns less than it takes over time.

The shows are built to be watched as much as played, which is part of their appeal and most of their risk. Below is how each one works and what the multipliers are paid for with. They are real-money gambling for those aged 18+.

How Crazy Time is played

The Crazy Time wheel is divided into numbered segments, marked 1, 2, 5 and 10, and four bonus segments: Coin Flip, Cash Hunt, Pachinko and Crazy Time itself. Before each spin you choose any mix of them. If the wheel stops on a number you backed, you are paid at that number to 1. If it stops on a bonus you backed, you go into that bonus round, where the prize is a multiplier on your stake.

A second, smaller wheel called the Top Slot spins at the same time and can attach an extra multiplier to one segment for that spin. That is where the eye-catching wins come from. They come rarely, and the more often a segment appears on the wheel, the smaller its prize; the 1 segment is the commonest and pays least.

The bonus rounds in brief

  • Coin Flip: a coin with a red and a blue side, each carrying a multiplier; whichever side lands sets your prize.
  • Cash Hunt: a wall of hidden multipliers; you pick a target and win what is behind it.
  • Pachinko: a puck drops down a wall of pegs into a slot with a multiplier, much like Plinko.
  • Crazy Time: a giant wheel in a back room, with a flapper you choose, and the largest multipliers in the game.

Every bonus has a floor and a ceiling, and the studio publishes the rules and return in the game's help panel. Read those figures in the game before the first spin; adverts tend to quote only the ceiling.

Monopoly Live and other money wheels

Monopoly Live uses the same idea with a board-game wrapper. The wheel carries numbered segments, Chance segments that award a cash prize or multiplier, and segments marked 2 Rolls and 4 Rolls. Back those and land on them, and a 3D Mr Monopoly walks round the board, collecting multipliers on the properties he lands on. It looks generous because the board is full of numbers; the price of those numbers is built into how often the bonus segments appear.

Searches for a Lightning Link app usually lead to a social slots app with play money rather than a live game show. It is a different product altogether, and its coins have no cash value.

Lightning Roulette and its stronger cousins

Lightning Roulette is European roulette with a twist. Before each spin, a number of straight-up numbers are struck by lightning and given random multipliers. If the ball lands on one of them and you backed it straight up, you are paid at the multiplier. To pay for the lightning, the ordinary straight-up win is paid at less than the standard 35 to 1. Outside bets such as red or black pay as normal. XXXtreme Lightning Roulette pushes the same idea further, with larger multipliers on offer.

The trade is clear once it is said aloud: you swap a dependable 35 to 1 for a lower everyday price plus an occasional big one. Over time the cost is broadly similar to standard roulette, and the swings are wider. The standard game is set out on our online roulette page.

Where to play Crazy Time online, and under which licence

Game shows run inside live casino lobbies, so any site carrying the studio's games may offer them. None of those sites holds an Irish licence for them, because online gaming is not licensed in Ireland yet; the GRAI expects to begin in early 2027. The sites below carry live casino products under foreign licences, from Malta to Gibraltar, and the order reflects our verdicts rather than any game show line-up, which changes with each lobby. The live dealer casinos page goes into the detail.

Form reads licence, markets, payments, safer-play tools, terms; 1 is best. How we rate. 18+ only.

Offshore sites on Curacao or Anjouan licences push game shows hard, often alongside crash games. They are not on our list because a dispute with one would leave an Irish player without an Irish regulator to call.

Watching is not winning

Game shows are designed for long sessions: a presenter, a crowd effect, a bonus that seems always one spin away. Decide on a stake per spin and a total for the evening, and leave the stream when the total is gone, rather than when the presenter says goodnight. Help is listed on our responsible gambling page, and the wider floor is mapped in the casino games guide.

Readers' questions

Who makes Crazy Time?
Evolution, the live casino studio that also produces Monopoly Live and Lightning Roulette. Casino sites license the game from the studio.
How do you win in Crazy Time?
Back a segment before the spin. A number pays at that number to 1; a bonus segment opens a bonus round where the prize is a multiplier on your stake.
Is Lightning Roulette better than normal roulette?
Not on price. Ordinary straight-up wins pay less than 35 to 1 to fund the lightning multipliers, so the game swings more without costing less.
Can I play Crazy Time with an Irish-licensed casino?
No casino is licensed in Ireland yet; gaming licensing is expected in early 2027. Sites offering game shows to Irish players do so under foreign licences.
